A new CIO took up his post at SAP AG in September – and by the end of November he had already had a presentation of the results of a benchmarking project. It was a quick stock-take of IT quality, of perceptions on the business side, of the challenges and the room for improvement. Four questions were addressed: How competitive is the SAP IT, what kind of threats exist, is money being wasted, and are the correct key indicators being used for evaluating IT functions? The assessment smoothed the way for fresh ideas, initiatives and procedures to optimize the overall strategy in IT.
